Rotondes’ Multiplica Lab and Casino Display are two structures in Luxembourg that are seeking to challenge ideas, the former is concerned with “exploring alternatives to the ‘technological progress at all costs’ ideology” while the latter investigates experimental ways to engage in collective artistic practices and research. As such, these Artist Talks held at Casino Display will serve a twofold purpose: first and foremost to give a forum for two emerging artists to present their work and research; and secondly, to open up the conversation between the two structures.  

Sonia Killmann is performing at Multiplica Lab on Saturday 22nd February and will be a guest for the day at Casino Display, first for these Artist Talks, and later in the evening for a workshop.  

Serene Hui is the current artist in residency at Casino Display and will be in the final phase of her residency period. 

Biographies

Sonia Killmann is a saxophone player, electronic musician, and audiovisual artist whose practice is deeply rooted in interdisciplinary work and collaborative processes. Her recent work explores the relationship between sound and environment, drawing inspiration from Pauline Oliveros' concepts of collective listening and sonic meditation. Since early 2024 Sonia has been working a lot with modular synthesizers and has researched the conjunction of modular synthesis with acoustic instruments at the Electronic Music Studios (EMS) in Stockholm in March 2024. As a Cryptic Artist, Sonia creates immersive experiences as an electronic and multimedia composer. 

Serene Hui is an artist based in the Netherlands and Hong Kong. Her practice is currently invested in epistemological colonialism for the ways it affects social structures, languages, psychology, and its potential susceptibility for manipulation. Hui’s works are research-focused and multifaceted, engaging primarily with installation, audio and live works, printmaking and text.
