EN There's no predicting the buzz that Belgian theatre collective FC Bergman will bring to the Grand Théâtre with their new creation Works and Days, but if past productions are anything to go by, it will be visually stunning and poetically extraordinary. The title is that of a poem written in 700 BC by Hesiodos. In it, the Greek poet encourages his brother to cultivate the land in harmony with the natural rhythm of the seasons, and this serves as a backdrop for FC Bergman’s exploration of a cherished theme: metamorphosis. Guided by jazz musician Joachim Badenhorst’s unique rendition of Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, the company focuses on how humans can reconnect with nature and its cycles. The approach avoids a simplistic celebration of nature, also acknowledging the pressing issues of climate change and ecological crises.
FR La compagnie de théâtre anversoise FC Bergman, connue et reconnue pour son univers innovant, décapant et spectaculaire à travers des spectacles comme Van den Vos (15·16), Les Pêcheurs de perles (18·19), The Sheep Song (21·22), 300 el x 50 el x 30 el (22·23), revient aux Théâtres de la Ville avec une nouvelle création, Works and Days, qui s’inspire du poème Les Travaux et les jours, du poète grec Hésiode, un des plus anciens précis littéraire d’agriculture. FC Bergman se penche sur l’un de ses thèmes de prédilection : la métamorphose. Comment l’homme peut-il renouer avec les cycles de la nature ? Works and Days, créé sur la musique en direct de Joachim Badenhorst, inspirée des Quatre Saisons d’Antonio Vivaldi, aborde le lien entre l’homme et la nature, mais aussi le changement climatique et la catastrophe écologique. Une production utopique et critique dans laquelle l’espoir a explicitement sa place.
DE Das Theaterkollektiv FC Bergman ist für seine ebenso spektakulären wie schrägen Produktionen bekannt. Im Jahr 2023 erhielten sie den Silbernen Löwen der Biennale Teatro und zeigten am Grand Théâtre ihr Erfolgsstück 300 el x 50 el x 30 el. Den Titel ihrer neuesten Kreation haben sie Hesiod entlehnt. In dessen Lehrgedicht Werke und Tage ermahnt der Autor dazu, das Land im Rhythmus der Jahreszeiten zu bestellen. Anhand von Vivaldis Vier Jahreszeiten beschäftigt sich FC Bergman mit einem ihrer Lieblingsthemen: der Metamorphose. Wie können wir uns wieder mit den Zyklen der Natur in Einklang bringen, jetzt, wo kein Weg an Klimawandel und Umweltkatastrophen vorbeiführt? Works and Days ist kein blinder Ruf zurück zur Natur, sondern ein utopischer und kritischer Abend, an dem trotz allem Platz für Leichtigkeit und Hoffnung bleibt.
