  • Understanding safety, respect, and inclusion in comedy;
  • Spectrum of Safety – Where do we draw the line? Exploring different perspectives;
  • Key Challenges and Solutions – Addressing common issues comedians face;
  • Setting Boundaries – Recognising and asserting personal and professional limits;
  • Supporting Each Other in the Industry – Building allyship and advocating for a better scene;
  • Building Rapport and Effective Communication – How to navigate difficult conversations and create safer spaces.

This workshop provides a trusted space for sharing experiences and learning from each other.

Whether you’re a newcomer or a seasoned performer, this workshop will give you valuable insights and practical strategies to help shape a safer, more inclusive comedy environment.

About the instructor

Rachel Morton-Young is a comedian, comedy producer, coach, and advocate for a safer comedy scene. With eight years of experience performing stand-up, she has developed a deep understanding of the industry’s challenges and the importance of fostering respectful and inclusive spaces.

Rachel is a certified ‘Vertrouwenspersoon’ (Confidential Counsellor) for the Dutch comedy scene, sponsored by the Utrecht International Comedy Festival (UICF). In this role, she provides support and guidance to comedians navigating issues such as harassment, discrimination, and professional boundaries.

As one of the founders of Safe Comedy Netherlands, Rachel has been instrumental in promoting industry-wide awareness and change. She is also a qualified coach and NLP practitioner, equipping her with the skills to help comedians develop confidence, resilience, and strong communication strategies.

With her unique blend of expertise in comedy, coaching, and conflict resolution, Rachel creates engaging workshops that empower comedians to set boundaries, navigate challenges, and build a more supportive comedy community.

This event is organised in collaboration with Festrogen Festival, a platform that aims to inspire and support women in comedy while levelling the playing field for performers from under-represented groups.
