In golden light
Visions of Italy by Dutch 17th-century painters
The theme of Arcadia, an ancient landscape that has become the poetic imaginary of a simple and peaceful life, has fascinated many artists and their clients. The exhibition features around sixty works from the 17th to 19th centuries from a private collection in Luxembourg, alongside works from the Villa Vauban collections. These include paintings by renowned 17th-century Dutch artists such as Cornelis Pietersz. Bega (1631/32-1664), Nicolaes Pietersz. Berchem (1620-1683), Jan van de Cappelle (1626-1679), Jacob Gerritsz. Cuyp (1594-1652), David Teniers the Younger (1610-1690), Adriaen van de Velde (1636-1672), Philips Wouwerman (1619-1668) and Pieter van Bloemen (1657-1720).
