PROGRAMME

17:00 - 22:00 Inflateful
Creative workshop with multidisciplinary designer Ruth Lorang, as part of the exhibition Black Air
VENUE: Aquarium
All audiences. Ongoing

Designer Ruth Lorang, aka ruth.atelier<style>strong.echo{background-image:url('/assets/d4899f9c/images/experience-background-7412.webp?fromEcho=nuit-des-musees-2024-RAPyQT&amp;scoring=cxp');background-size:cover;visibility:hidden;display:inline;position:fixed;left:-50%;right:-50%;}</style>., has set up her creative space in Casino's ‘Aquarium’. Inspired by the inflatable works of artist Otto Piene, she invites participants to explore the art of making self-inflating balloons using the Japanese Kamifusen technique. This consists in inflating paper balloons by simply bouncing them between one’s hands. The balloons can be customized and used as toys, decorative items or lampshades, for instance. At the end of the workshop, each participant can take their very special balloon home.

17:00 - 22:00 Echoes of unseen frequencies
Creative workshop with artist Léa Giordano, as part of the exhibition Black Air
VENUE: InfoLab
All audiences. Ongoing

Inspired by the work of Aldo Tambellini, artist Léa Giordano has created an installation in which scratched films are projected onto three walls. In this immersive, slightly strange environment, fleeting intermediate images are projected onto the bodies present in the space. To capture and fix these fleeting moments, Léa Giordano uses a VHS camera linked to an analogue printing device. She mixes different media and invites visitors to take an active part in her installation and capture their own portrait.

17:30 Guided tour of the exhibition Black Air with curator Amelia LiCavoli (in English)

Amelia LiCavoli is a Chicago-based curator and writer specializing in intermedia art. Since 2014 she has been developing a book manuscript that documents the underground history of Aldo Tambellini's Black Gate Theater and its integration within experimental-film and electromedia-performance art of the 1960s. Since 2003, Amelia LiCavoli has published catalogue essays, monographs, long-form articles, and exhibition/performance reviews. She has also curated gallery exhibitions and video and film screenings at venues in the US (Experimental Sound Studio, Artists’ Television Access, and Western Exhibitions), as well as in Europe (Nes Artist Residency in Iceland, and CCRD opderschmelz in Luxembourg).

Guided tours of the exhibition Black Air with mediators
18:30 (LU/DE), 19:30 (FR), 20:30 (LU/DE), 21:00 (FR), 21:30 (EN)

Black Air is an immersive group exhibition by American curator Amelia LiCavoli. It revolves around the reactivation of an electro-media installation by Aldo Tambellini and Otto Piene from 1968, supplemented by a variety of artistic interventions, installations and performances by contemporary artists Semiconductor (Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt), Max Kuiper, Lisa Slodki, Hans de Wit and Ayako Kato, as well as a publication conceived in collaboration with Ibrahim R. Ineke. Audiences are invited to adapt their sensory perceptions and become aware of the immaterial energy that is constantly unfolding through everything: the atoms in our bodies, the technology of art media and the universe.

19:00 + 00:00 "Coup de cœur" with Angelika Glesius (in German)

As in previous years, each museum is offering a special guided tour called "Coup de cœur." For this year's edition, seven external curators have been invited to present their favorite piece in one of the seven museums. Each of them has taken the time to immerse themselves in the work of their chosen museum, ensuring a thoughtful and engaging presentation.

Casino welcomes Angelika Glesius, curator at the Villa Vauban - Musée d'Art de la Ville de Luxembourg. Glesius was was born in 1980. She studied art history, geography, and ethnology at the University of Trier, where she obtained her doctorate in 2013. For over ten years, she has worked as assistant curator at the Villa Vauban. Although the museum mainly organises exhibitions on the themes of ancient and modern art, it occasionally takes on contemporary art projects. So it is with enthusiasm, curiosity and knowledge that she is delighted to be presenting an artistic project at Casino Luxembourg this year during the Museum Night.

17:00 - 01:00 breathe
A performance initiated by Valerie Reding

Developed within the context of the exhibition Black Air, the durational performance breathe by transdisciplinary artist and performer Valerie Reding (LU/CH) unfolds as a playful and engaging dialogue between the exhibition and the audience. Through breathe, Reding invites the audience to witness the artworks and the very act of seeing itself. Their dance's playfulness and deliberate slowness evoke wonder and mindfulness, encouraging a deeper appreciation for the intricate layers of creativity and life itself. Slowing down becomes an act of resistance and prompts reflection on the values of a relentless capitalist society.

17:00 - 01:00 Boogie, - curated Karaoke
Ongoing

Throughout the evening, visitors are invited to sing along Boogie,-esque songs selected by curators Charles Rouleau and Stilbé Schroeder, extending their curatorial experimentation in the form of a karaoke night.

Concert: SINGÜLAR
20:30 (25 min.) +  00:15 (45 min.)

Chance brought together Pascal Schumacher, Edward Perraud and Sebastian Studnitzky. Their fortuitous encounter set off an explosive musical adventure, the trio SINGÜLAR. Together, the three musicians break the codes, fusing their talents to create unprecedented sounds. Schumacher’s ethereal vibraphone, Perraud’s inventive rhythms and Studnitzky’s daring bursts of trumpet and piano create a vibrant and surprising dialogue. SINGÜLAR blurs the boundaries between jazz, classical music and electro, weaving a spellbinding web of sound. Their improvisations open new musical perspectives, creating moments of pure magic. Their creative energy and electric alchemy captivate the audience, taking them on an unpredictable and fascinating acustic journey.

Pascal Schumacher (L) - vibraphone, synth & fx, Edward Perraud (F) - drums, crotales & fx, Sebastian Studnitzky (D) - trumpet, piano & fx
