Nuetscavalcade

“Fuesgecken” and “Fuesbocken”! Just like our German neighbours, we Luxembourgers love carnival!

Halfway through Lent, “Halleffaaschten”, a big night procession through the streets of Wasserbillig is taking place on Saturday evenings. Every year the “Bratzelgécken” elect a pretzel king, and on leap years a pretzel queen. Starting on the “Esplanade de la Moselle”, the 1,800-metre-long procession with music bands, decorated carriages and parade groups, moves through the streets of the Moselle and Sauer village to town centre. In addition to the coveted sweets that are distributed to the visitors, the parade participants traditionally serve free wine and juices.
