Orchestre Place de l'Europe
Benjamin Schäfer / Arthur Stockel
"Playing in this orchestra is not only musically fulfilling," says timpanist Jeff Schiltz, "but also humanly fulfilling". His violin colleague Pauline Marmaï adds: "Benjamin shows us that it's not so much about perfection, but about the experience of creating something beautiful together."
The purpose of the Orchestre Place de l'Europe could not have been better summarised. Since its foundation in 2022, this community of 110 amateur musicians under the direction of Benjamin Schäfer, otherwise timpanist in the Luxembourg Philharmonic, has already provided its audience with numerous moments full of emotion. Both in its performances and rehearsals, the orchestra remains true to its mission of sharing the joy of music and is also expanding its sphere of influence.
Benjamin Schäfer has been musical director of the Orchestre Place de l'Europe since the very beginning. The timpanist and percussionist of the Luxembourg Philharmonic likes to swap his timpani mallets for the conductor's baton and loves working with amateur musicians.
