The Architectural Walk allows you to discover the variety of architecture in Esch, including the city’s Art Nouveau and Art Deco heritage. This fascinating walk immersed you in the unique and well-preserved melting pot of the architectural past. The 5km walk begins at the Berwart Tower (1763), the former gateway to the baroque castle (1721), which was destroyed in 1954. Take Rue Emile Mayrisch, walk along the square of the same name (1930), past the Del’héicht primary school (1916) and the hospital (1925-1930) to reach Rue du Fossé. From the Lycée des garçons (1909), continue past the Saint-Joseph church (1873) and go down to the Hôtel de Ville (1935-1937), then turn into the rue de l’Alzette, the pedestrian heart of Esch. Follow the rue de l’Alzette to the Brill school, then make a diversion via the rue Zénon Bernard – admire the liberty-style house built by a rich Italian immigrant (1905) and the Sacré-Coeur church (1931) – to arrive at the Place de la Résistance where the Musée National de la Résistance Luxembourgeoise (1956) is located. Take the rue Zénon Bernard, cross the rue de la Libération and take the rue Bolivar, then the avenue de la Gare to come back to the starting point by the rue Boltgen.

The complete and detailed description of the route is available at the Escher Infofabrik – 85, rue de l’Alzette.

There are also guided tours available for you to take.
For group tours with a guide the cost is 90€ for up to 20 people max.
On various Saturdays you can go on tours without previous reservation. The meeting point  is at the Escher Infofabrik at 14.15 with departure at 14:30 (from 1 – 20persons).
