Domaine Viticole Cep D’or
On the steep, sun drenched slopes of the valley where the river Moselle has carved its way, man has been cultivating grapevines for more than two thousand years. This narrow band of land found around Stadtbredimus consisting of warmer calcareous marls, mingled with thin keuper layers and compact stony argillaceous limestone soil, offer best growing conditions for vines. The overlapping of these soils, formed in far distant times around Stadtbredimus makes this terroir unique. A wide variety of grapevines find here a perfect environment. Wines that originate Stadtbredimus excel in aromas, richness and freshness.
Since the beginning of grape growing in Luxembourg, man has managed to adapt to the natural environment. Today Cep D’or is doing a spectacular replanting in order to produce high quality grapes. Daily consumption type wines have been much reduced in order to produce a wider range of noble varietals such as Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Auxerrois, Gewürztraminer and even Muscat Ottonel. Cep D’or has opted for sustained farming without the use of insecticides. The production of low yields for the benefit of quality rather than quantity has become our quality philosophy.
The Moselle Valley, nestled between the vine covered slopes, is proof of the creativity and entrepreneurship of generations of dedicated winegrowers. We are aware of the challenge to keep alive this great tradition.
The Vesque family, owners of the Cep D’or Estate, look back to the origins of this estate in 1762 when their ancestors settled here from Lorraine (France).
