Walferdange
Every year in November, Walferdingen revolves around books. Authors and readers, publishers and collectors, dealers and bargain-hunters meet at the Walfer Bicherdeeg (book days of Walferdingen), a highlight of Luxembourg's cultural life. However, when it comes to culture, the municipality has much more to offer. There is, for example, the CAW, a place of exchange and creativity for young and old, or the Walfer Kulturschapp, an old warehouse that has been converted into an exhibition venue. Furthermore, the Trinity Church is best known for its 1903 murals by the German artist Gerhard Lamers.
The residents of Walferdingen have been extracting gypsum since antiquity. On the tracks of the gypsum mines, a thematic trail, starting in Bereldingen was recently laid out. Another thematic trail, which starts in Helmsingen, takes you to the Raschpëtzer, an underground aqueduct in the middle of the forest that impressively testifies to Roman engineering. The path also passes the remains of a Roman villa and the Sonnebierg nature reserve.
You can relax and recharge your batteries in the PIDAL bathing centre, which, in addition to traditional swimming pools and saunas, has a well-equipped wellness and beauty area as well as a restaurant.
