Immerse yourself in the history of this former zoo, which gives you an insight into a hunting culture that no longer exists today.
A circular trail with history: the former deer park in Clervaux
This hiking trail that leads through a piece of forgotten cultural heritage begins just a few steps away from Clervaux Castle. What is now dominated by woodland was once a deer park used for centuries by the Count de Lannoy family as a private hunting ground.
Fallow deer and merino sheep were kept here. The aisles that once offered a clear view of the animals from the castle are still recognisable today. If you look closely, you can even discover remnants from this period.
The approximately three-kilometre circular trail is classified as moderately difficult due to the height difference and leads to six stations with QR codes and an audio station. They provide insights into the history of the park, tell of the everyday life of the count's family and convey a sense of the hunting culture of the time.
Along the route, there are always opportunities to pause for a moment - whether on a bench in the shade or at one of the places that are particularly closely linked to the history of the park.
