Carisa Dias, born in Lisbon to Cape Verdean parents and raised in Luxembourg, embodies the essence of being a global citizen, which is reflected in her music. Drawing from the richness of Cape Verdean morna, the captivating rhythms of Afro-beats, the gentleness of bossa nova, and the harmonies of pop and soul, the singer blends various sounds and cultures to create a unique repertoire.
Her music seamlessly merges tradition and modernity, inviting listeners on a musical journey without borders.
Her identity, marked by multiculturalism and transnationality, made Carisa certain that her art and destiny have no borders and it was her father, an author, composer and singer, who first pointed out to her that her audience is the world. Having always sung at Cape Verdean events, “one day my father came up to me and said: ‘Look, my daughter, your stage isn't here, your stage is the world’. At the time, I didn't understand what he was trying to say, but later I did. He believed that I deserved something more, that I deserved an international career,” Carisa shares.
Convinced that her life belonged to the art of creating music, growing up in a musical environment was fundamental to her artistic development. “I've always been surrounded by music. My father was my first great source of inspiration. He introduced me to different genres and encouraged me to explore music as a form of expression,” she recalls.
