French director Jacques Audiard's 10th film, the musical thriller EMILIA PÉREZ, will be screened at Ciné Utopia on Wednesday 3 July at 8pm.
In Competition at this year's Cannes Film Festival, the film won the prestigious Jury Prize. In addition, for the first time, the Best Performance Prize was awarded collectively to actresses Adriana Paz, Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón and Selena Gomez.
Overqualified and undervalued, Rita (Zoe Saldaña) is a lawyer at a large firm that is more interested in getting criminals off the hook than bringing them to justice.
One day, she is given an unexpected way out, when cartel leader Manitas (Karla Sofía Gascón) hires her to help him withdraw from his business and realize a plan he has been secretly preparing for years: to become the woman he has always dreamt of being.
