FR Boris Charmatz, dont l’impressionnant 10000 gestes a été présenté au Grand Théâtre au cours de la saison 23·24, est le nouveau directeur du Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. Il revient à Luxembourg avec sa première pièce pour la troupe, rejointe par des danseurs fidèles de son travail avec Terrain, sa structure française : Liberté Cathédrale, créée dans une spectaculaire église brutaliste, puis présentée dans un opéra et en plein air. Boris Charmatz et ses 26 interprètes ont construit une chorégraphie comme une tempête de gestes, une cathédrale sans murs, dont l’architecture est humaine. Dans cette « église sans église » se mélangent le chaos des volées de cloches, le souffle de l’orgue, le chant a capella et le plus complet silence. Assis tout autour de l’espace de danse, le public assiste au plus près à la performance virtuose d’une assemblée chorégraphique en mouvement.
DE Boris Charmatz, dessen 10000 gestes in der Spielzeit 23·24 am Grand Théâtre zu sehen war, ist der neue Intendant des Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. Er kehrt mit seinem ersten Stück für und mit dem Ensemble nach Luxemburg zurück, bei dem auch TänzerInnen seiner französischen Struktur Terrain mitwirken. Liberté Cathédrale wurde in einer brutalistischen Kirche uraufgeführt und in einer Oper sowie im Freien gezeigt. Charmatz und seine 26 DarstellerInnen haben eine Choreografie einem Sturm gleich geschaffen, eine Kathedrale ohne Mauern, aus menschlicher Architektur. In dieser „Kirche ohne Kirche“ vermischen sich Glocken- und Orgelklänge, A cappella Gesang und Stille. Das Publikum sitzt rund um den Tanzraum und erlebt die virtuos choreografierte Versammlung aus nächster Nähe.
EN Choreographer Boris Charmatz, whose 10000 gestes was presented at the Grand Théâtre last season, is now the director of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. Returning to Luxembourg, he presents Liberté Cathédrale, his inaugural piece crafted for and in collaboration with the company, alongside steadfast dancers from his French structure, Terrain. This work, born within the striking confines of a brutalist church, transcends traditional venues, gracing opera houses and open-air spaces alike. Charmatz and his ensemble of 26 performers have created a choreographic piece akin to a tempest of movement, sculpting a cathedral devoid of walls or spire, its architecture resoundingly human. Surrounding the dance space in a special seating configuration, the audience is immersed in this performance, experiencing first hand its captivating virtuosity.
