Today, Emil and I are visiting Ansembourg Castle’s beautiful gardens with our grandma Tilly. 

Today, my big sister Mia and I are out on a bike ride. We’re on the cycle path from Garnich to Kahler.

Today, Mum, Dad, Mia and I are having a picnic at the Mamer Drëps recreational area.

Today my parents, Emil and I are spending the whole afternoon in the commune of Mersch.

Today, Emil and I are going on a trip into the past. To do so, we need to go into the forest behind grandma’s house. A long time ago, there was a village here.

 “There’s the next stop,” Emil calls out excitedly. Emil and I are walking the children’s walking trail in Bech. This trail is not boring, like trails for the adults. Here, you can really let off steam.

Emil runs ahead. Suddenly, he stands still and looks up: “Here’s the way out of the cave.”

Grandma, her dog Bella, Mia and I are on an adventure trip in the forest. Mia climbs the steps. They lead to a gap in the rocks. Mia puts her head into it and turns around: “I bet you don’t dare to go through there.” 

Today, we are taking to the water. In a pedalo. It works like a bicycle, only on water. As you pedal, the boat moves forward. I’m really looking forward to it, as I really like riding my bike, and riding a bike on water sounds like a great adventure. 

“70, 71, 72...,” Mia mumbles. I ask her what she’s counting. She points at the steps behind us. “So many steps,” I laugh. We walk on. 

“Knock, knock.” Emil peeps around the door. “Shall we go cycling today? It’s the last day of the holidays.” 

“We have to go up there?” Emil asks. I nod. Emil sighs. After what feels like a thousand steps later, we reach our destination. The ruins of the castle rise up in front of us. A large wooden door bars the entrance. Emil is sad: “Have we come all that way for nothing?"

Mia and I are cycling by the water.  “Whoever gets to the route marker first wins,” shouts Mia, and rides off. I pedal hard. But Mia is faster. Suddenly, she brakes. Her face is white. She is shaking. 

Mia and I are spending the day with granddad. He lives in Nommern. While granddad is preparing our favourite dish – “Kniddelen” with bacon and apple purée – we are exploring the forest behind his house.

“Here’s a nice spot to stop,” mum says. Ahead of us is a pavilion with a bench.  “Yes please – I’m starving!” I call out.

Mia and I have made ourselves comfy on a bench, to have something to eat. Cycling makes you hungry. On the water below us, a bird lands. It has got a fish in its beak.

Emil and I are travelling in the forest. “Mia, can we have a stop please? I’m hungry,” Emil moans. I nod, because my stomach is rumbling too. We find a spot between the rocks and unpack our picnic.
